Echo Mountain describes itself as Denver's closest and most affordable ski area, about 36 miles from downtown Denver on Squaw Pass Road above Idaho Springs. It's a small mountain: a base at 10,050 feet and a top at 10,650 feet for 600 feet of vertical, one triple chair and two conveyor lifts, and a mostly intermediate set of runs. The Indy Pass page lists an average of 85 inches of snow a year.

The area offers night skiing Wednesday through Saturday until 9 p.m., has been open seven days a week since 2019 and added a tubing hill in 2018. The site is the former Squaw Pass Ski Area, which its own history dates to 1960; the Echo Mountain name dates from reopening under new ownership in 2016.

Echo Mountain is listed on the Indy Pass and was selling 2026-27 season passes at the time of this writing. It's a good fit for a quick after-work session or a first day on snow. Check current Echo Mountain ski conditions before you go.
