Aspen Mountain rises straight out of downtown Aspen, reached by the Silver Queen Gondola, which climbs about 3,300 vertical feet to the summit at 11,212 feet. Aspen Snowmass lists the mountain at 906 acres and 3,317 feet of vertical.

Its own description is quad-burning groomers and steep, gladed runs, best suited to intermediate and expert skiers, with limited beginner terrain. The Hero's expansion, added in 2023-24, brought 153 acres of chutes and glades served by a high-speed quad, the biggest addition since the gondola in 1985. Aspen Snowmass reports about 300 inches of snow a year across its four mountains.

The mountain opened in December 1946. It's one of four Aspen Snowmass mountains, all on the Ikon Pass (seven days for 2026-27) and Mountain Collective destinations (two days, then 50% off). The 2026-27 season is scheduled to open November 26, 2026. Check current Aspen Mountain ski conditions before you go.
