Kendall Mountain is a small, town-run ski hill above Silverton, marketed as the cheapest ski area in the West. It has one double chairlift, about 240 feet of vertical and four groomed trails, plus tree runs and a small terrain park. All of its snow is natural.

It's a family and community hill more than a destination mountain. Beyond skiing, the area offers Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, sledding and ice skating, so it's an easy way to give kids a first day on snow without a resort price tag.

Kendall's website said the area was closed for the 2025-26 season and listed a 2026-27 return, and it's a new Indy Pass partner for 2026-27. Opening dates weren't published when we last checked, so confirm with the area and look at current Kendall Mountain ski conditions before you go.
