View More →Arapahoe Basin calls itself a pure skier's and rider's mountain, and its homepage describes 73% of the terrain as advanced to expert. The area lists 1,428 acres, 147 runs, nine lifts, a summit at 13,050 feet on the East Wall and a 2,530-foot vertical. The Ikon Pass page gives an average of 350 inches of snow a year.
The terrain is spread across seven distinct areas. The Beavers and Steep Gullies, added in 2017-18, grew the terrain by nearly half, and Montezuma Bowl offers about 400 acres of wide-open intermediate groomers. A-Basin claims the longest ski season in Colorado; its homepage listed a season window that can begin as early as October 9, 2026.
The area opened in 1946, was the first post-war ski area in Colorado and installed the first Poma lift in the United States in 1953. It's owned by Alterra Mountain Company and is on the Ikon Pass. Check current Arapahoe Basin ski conditions before you go.
