Wolf Creek Ski Area sits on Wolf Creek Pass along US-160, near Pagosa Springs, and it's best known for one number: about 430 inches of snow in an average year, which the area says is the most in Colorado. It's family owned and operated, with a base at 10,300 feet, a top at 11,904 feet and 1,604 feet of vertical.

The mountain has 1,600 acres, 133 trails and 11 lifts, including high-speed quads that can move about 14,780 skiers an hour. Its terrain mix is 20% beginner, 35% intermediate, 25% advanced and 20% expert, and the longest run, Navajo Trail, is about two miles. Wolf Creek is also known for a lot of in-bounds terrain beyond the groomed runs, and there are Nordic trails too, about 10 kilometers across three trails.

The season usually runs from early November to early April. Wolf Creek is independent, with no Epic, Ikon, Mountain Collective or Indy affiliation, so you'll buy lift tickets or its own pass. Check current Wolf Creek ski conditions before you make the drive.
